The automotive camera module software developed by Samsung Electro-Mechanics has received the European automotive industry’s automotive software development standard certification. Recognized for its automotive camera software development capabilities, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is expanding its market influence by responding to the high technical level of overseas automobile and automotive component companies.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics announced on November 20 that it has obtained the Automotive SPICE (hereinafter referred to as A-SPICE) Level 3 (Capability Level 3ㆍCL3) certification. A-SPICE is an automotive software development standard established by the European automotive industry to evaluate the software reliability and development capabilities of automotive component manufacturers.
A-SPICE has six levels, from the lowest, Level 0 to Level 5. To supply products to European automotive manufacturers, you must meet Level 2 or higher. A-SPICE Level 3 means “SW processes are systematically and clearly managed at the organizational level” and is the highest level required by automakers.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has achieved A-SPICE Level 3 certification for its software that provides a constant temperature function. Automotive cameras must operate without performance degradation in harsh environments such as snow, rain, high temperature, high pressure and ultra-low temperature, and the software developed by Samsung Electro-Mechanics keeps the camera at a constant temperature to support stable driving. Samsung Electro-Mechanics will supply automotive camera modules equipped with this program to global automobile manufacturers.
“Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ automotive camera software technology has received the certifications required by global automakers,” said Executive Vice President Lee Siwoo, Head of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Innovation Center, “Samsung Electro-Mechanics will contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge driver assistance systems and infotainment systems by strengthening its automotive camera products and providing differentiated solutions to customers.”
Meanwhile, Samsung Electro-Mechanics is strengthening its competitiveness in high-reliability automotive camera modules based on technologies accumulated in mobile and IT. Samsung Electro-Mechanics has all the core technologies required for camera modules, including lens design, molding, and high-performance actuator manufacturing. It has developed high-reliability camera modules such as all-season, all-weather (Weather Proof) camera modules with water-repellent coating technology and lens heating function and is expanding its business with global automotive companies. Additionally, Samsung Electro-Mechanics plans to actively target next-generation business areas such as the new electronic component platform, Humanoid, as well as digital transformation through VR, AR, and XR technologies.
