CEO Kyung Kyehyun received the “2020 Haedong Technology Award” from the Institute of Electronics and Information Engineers.
The Haedong Award is granted to talented individuals in the area of Korean electrical engineering and related areas who have contributed to the advancement of academics and technology by the Haedong Science and Culture Foundation, which was established by the deceased Kim Jeongsik, former Chairman of Daedeok Electronics.
During his time at Samsung Electronics, CEO Kyung Kyehyun contributed to strengthening competitiveness in semiconductors by developing core memory products, such as DRAM, Flash, and SSD, and at Samsung Electro-Mechanics, based on his technological leadership, he continued to develop innovative products, contributing to the advancement of the Korean electronics components industry to world-class standards.
With the development of the world’s first Direct Rambus DRAM in 1997, CEO Kyung Kyehyun developed the world’s first 3D V NAND Flash in 2013 and received the “Proud Samsung Employee Award”, and in 2019, by releasing the world’s first UFS (Universal Flash Storage) 3.0 and 128-level 3D NAND-embedded SSD, he served a critical role in helping Korea secure solid global number one position in the memory semiconductor market.
Furthermore, after starting his new position as the CEO of Samsung Electro-Mechanics in January 2020, through the convergence and integration between materials and components technologies, including materials and modules, he focused on nurturing the company’s advanced electronics material, core passive component, camera module, and circuit board businesses to world-class standards and elevated the Korean electronics components technology one level higher.
On the one hand, CEO Kyung Kyehyun donated his prize money of KRW 25 million to sponsor and nurture talents in the area of IT and engineering.
