Environmental Management Governance

Samsung Electro-Mechanics is continuously reviewing the risks and opportunities that climate change may have on its overall business operations. The ESG Committee under the Board of Directors oversees and manages environment-related issues such as climate change, water resources and general ESG issues.
The ESG Committee, which consists of four outside directors and two in-house directors, deliberates and decides on key issues related to short-, medium- and long-term strategies for climate change and carbon neutrality. The ESG Committee’s discussion agenda is organized by the ESG Group in consultation with relevant departments such as the Safe Environment Team and the Infrastructure Team. In addition, through the Safe Environment Meeting, which is composed of executives and heads of each business unit, we discuss climate change risks, business impacts, and financial impacts that occur in the operational phase and reflect them in the carbon management risk management process.

Environmental Management System

Samsung Electro-Mechanics has established a management system based on ISO14001 (environment) and ISO50001 (energy) certifications to comply with global standards and reflect them in its management activities. We verify the effectiveness of the environmental management system through regular internal audits every year, and continuously verify the appropriateness, satisfaction, and effectiveness of the management system and conduct management reviews to make decisions on the strategic direction of environmental management. In addition, we conduct collective training for working-level employees and environmental impact assessments for relevant departments to ensure the efficient operation of the environmental management system and strengthen employee awareness. In this way, we identify serious environmental risks in advance and establish and implement improvement plans to achieve environmental policies and goals.
