Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Wins Most Outstanding Overseas Subsidiary Award at the Samsung International Skills Competition 2 Years in a Row

- Cutting edge manufacturing skills recognized with 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals, 8 bronze medals
- Tianjin Samsung Electro-Mechanics wins Most Outstanding Overseas Subsidiary Award for the 2nd consecutive year

At the 12th Samsung International Skills Competition, Samsung Electro-Mechanics won the Most Outstanding Overseas Subsidiary Award for the 2nd consecutive year in addition to 2 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 8 bronze medals.


The Samsung International Skills Competition is a technical skills competition between the employees of Samsung’s domestic and international subsidiaries that is meant to discover and foster the development of skilled workers. The competition was held in Cheonan and Suwon over 4 days beginning on April 10th, with over 170 participants from the 4 subsidiaries Samsung Electronics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDI, and Samsung Display and their 26 overseas entities across 12 countries such as China, Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, Hungary, and Poland.


Samsung Electro-Mechanics had a total of 37 employees from its domestic plants and Tianjin Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung High-Tech Electro-Mechanics(Tianjin), Kunshan Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Thailand, Samsung Electro-Mechanics Vietnam, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics Philippines participate in the 4 categories of CNC milling/manufacturing, automated system establishment, manufacturing equipment/JIG design, and electric control system creation.

The outstanding technical skills of Samsung Electro-Mechanics in the manufacturing technology fields of automation, engineering, systems, and the like resulted in gold medals in the automated systems establishment and electric control system creation categories. Furthermore, Tianjin Samsung Electro-Mechanics won the Most Outstanding Overseas Subsidiary award for the 2nd consecutive year.


There were many female competitors as well this year, with Warisada Ssengsoda of Samsung Electro-Mechanics Thailand, who competed in automated system establishment, saying that, “While I was nervous at times, I prepared diligently and did my best.”



Director Dong Hoon Lee, Manufacturing Innovation Team Leader of Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ Global Technology Center, said, “Even though there was only a short period of time to prepare for the competition, we were able to achieve good results because all of our competitors worked hard. I hope that the technical competitiveness they were able to acquire here will be transmitted to each of their plants and offices to help improve our overall manufacturing competitiveness.”
