Samsung Electro-Mechanics supports the cost of books for its employees through the Dadok Dadok program. Dadok Dadok, which means “extensive reading” in Korean, is a program aimed at creating a voluntary reading culture among Samsung Electro-Mechanics employees. The company reimburses 50% of the book price as reading points within the limit of 10,000 won per month. Over the last year, about 2,100 employees participated in this program, which started in June 2021. Through this program, SEM employees purchased 11,765 books worth about 200 million won.

In August, a book vacation event was held to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Dadok Dadok. During the event, 50 books that have been most loved by Samsung Electro-Mechanics were displayed, and a cultural performance and book talk were held. Kim Hoyeon, author of "Inconvenient Convenience Store," which was selected as the Dadok Dadok bestseller, was invited to the book talk. During the talk, the SEM employee who used Dadok Dadok most was introduced, and an awards ceremony was held for employees who wrote the most helpful book reviews.

[CEO's Book Recommendation: Book Dream Event]

In addition to Dadok Dadok, Samsung Electro-Mechanics actively encourages employees to read through the Book Dream event. Book Dream is an event in which the CEO personally recommends and gifts books to employees. This time, CEO Chang Duckhyun recommended five books across different fields including economy/business, humanities, art, and technology. During Thursday Talk, a conversation between the CEO and employees, he introduced books that he enjoyed reading and urged employees to "read before and after vacation." "Reading is a good way to get away from your busy everyday life," he added.

Book Dream has become the company's unique event with the participation of about 400 employees in June and about 1,000 employees in August. Alongside the Book Dream event, the One Line Review event also encourages employees to share their thoughts on the books they read, creating a reading "boom" at Samsung Electro-Mechanics.
